About Marugame Udon

Located at 383 University Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94301, Marugame Udon operates as a noodle shop serving Palo Alto in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

These businesses tend to have short hours built around lunch and early dinner rather than late-night service, so checking the listed hours before heading out in Palo Alto saves a wasted trip. Seating is often limited or first-come, and many locations lean toward takeout or delivery rather than dining in. Prices are generally lower than full-service restaurants in the same category, which makes this group a reliable option for a fast, inexpensive meal across California. Portions can be smaller at food-court counters than at a stand-alone restaurant, so ordering two items is common for a full meal. Many of these businesses are independently owned even inside a shared food hall, so hours, accepted payment methods and whether a counter takes online orders can differ from stall to stall within the same building.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 am–10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Marugame Udon at (650) 285-2880; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, marugameudon.com.

Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 796 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded noodle shops in Palo Alto.

Palo Alto is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Palo Alto follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Fresh handmade udon! Free, plentiful street parking, and the bright signage makes this corner spot super easy to find. Inside is very casual cafeteria-style. The fun part is the open kitchen where you can watch the chefs knead, cut, and boil the udon noodles right in front of you. Just flour, water, and salt, made fresh on-site and served fresh every time. The ordering process is pretty straightforward: order your udon directly from the chefs, then move down the line for tempura and sides like chicken katsu, shrimp, and gyoza. There's a separate line for dine-in and to-go, plus a station for utensils, hot sauce, tempura sauce, ginger, etc. They even have a "How to Eat Udon" guide on the wall. Seating is mostly 2-tops, with a small outdoor patio in front. Since it's in a busy business area, it seems like a lot of people come here for a quick solo lunch. Restroom was clean and decent. I also like that they offer a free tempura or house beverage for completing their feedback form via QR code. It's nice that they're asking for actual feedback instead of just fishing for Google/Yelp reviews. I submitted mine and got a pineapple sunrise drink. Even better, management actually repl

Visited this University Avenue location and absolutely loved it! The Nikutama Udon is my absolute favoriteβ€”the beef is incredibly flavorful and tender, and the soft-boiled egg makes the broth so rich and creamy. Great portions and quick service. Will definitely be coming back!

I had a great experience at Morugame today. The service was quick, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a nice atmosphere for a casual meal. We tried the Udon Curry, Chicken Katsu Curry, Rice Ball, and Shrimp Tempura Bento. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The chicken katsu was crispy on the outside and tender inside, the curry was rich and comforting, the udon had a great chewy texture, the rice ball was simple but delicious, and the shrimp tempura was light and crispy without feeling greasy. The portions were satisfying, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.

Nice atmosphere, delicious udon, broth. Tempura is less oily which is very good. Self order and service, No tipping required. Friendly staff. Tasty food. The beef bowls are kind of smaller portions.

It's a Chipotle of Udon with some flexibility and options. Quick build to order service. Fast food like self service. Casual place with medicare udons with bold salty flavor. Udons are freshly hot served. No table service. Good for kids, small gathering and meetups. Wide entry and paths inside make it accessible. Paid and free street parking available.
